This type of word design is used in the Pharmaceutical Industry. For example, the Dihydropyridine class of Calcium Channel Blockers (CCBs) contain the suffix “-dipine” and are distinguished by their prefixes (amlodipine, nifedipine, felodipine, nimodipine, etc).
There is little or no information about the etymology of Igbo words and the author only performs ‘verb’ descriptions using his knowledge of ancient and current Igbo culture. For example, the word for leg ‘ukwu’ contains the verb ‘kwu’ which is stand-the leg is used in standing. The word for cup ‘Iko’ contains the verb ‘ko’ which is draw- the cup is used to draw water. Priest or UkoChukwu contains uko (planting) and Chukwu (God)- a Priest plants the ‘seed’ of God in people. Nwute ( prolonged agony), okwute (stone), Ite (Pot) and Ute (mat) contain the suffix “-te” which is ‘prolongation’. Otu (one, 1), Otu (group), and Ntu (nail) contain the suffix 'tu' which is 'oneness'.

Igbo voices; hidden wisdom from the ancient language eBook Uzoma Nwosu Reviews
This is a powerful and amazing book. I grew up in Igbo land. Igbo is a verb based language and the writer focused on the verbs. Once the verbs are isolated, the author compares the verbs with what he knows about Igbo culture. Those are the bases of the conclusions. This book will give you insight into how ancient Africans lived and understood their world. I have never seen any book like this and I consider this a great accomplishment. Anyone who likes Igbo or African books should consider getting this book.
The Igbo people of Nigeria is a powerful group of people and so is their language and culture. And I concur with what the writer of this book Igbo voices is saying because "e" is used in soft negation and not many people has paid attention to this. For example in these sentences
Enwe e ife ka ndu
Onwe ife ka ndu
Onwe e ife ka ndu
It can be seen clearly that E is polite, diplomatic or soft negation.
Igbo Voices takes a deep look at the power of language and how landguage and words give us a deeper insight on how people who spoke this language lived. Very interesting to see how words in the Igbo language are derived from common phrases and teachings. This book was very informative and an easy read. I would recommend to all especially those interested in the power of words and human communication throughout history.
I purchased this book with the hope of gaining some insight into the etymology of igbo words and ultimately a little more understanding of the Igbo culture and trandition. To say the read was a letdown would be a compliment. The claims were based on no research, it was clear to see that in most of these explanations, the author was reaching. Then there were the perverse explanations/focus on body parts. As soon as I was done reading the book, it went into my garbage; the first time such a thing has happened. It wasn't even worth returning, It gets a one star as far as ratings go, only because there isn't a lesser rating.
This was a very concise, and well written book on a topic that is not known by the majority of the people. The author does a great job by truly opening the eyes of the reader to the hidden wisdom of the Igbo world......
Great and informative book. I enjoyed the reading.

“IGBO VOICES” is a wonderful insight into the colorful meaning and use of words within igbo.
It’s a great training tool for Africans and the African Diaspora. Repatriating the African diaspora through language (as a foundation) will have a strong cultural impact. I recommend it for the entire family.
